RTW Falcons batsman Joel Williams takes a defensive shot from the Cavaliers bowler,  enroute to making 42 runs

After missing the Peter Haycraft T10 tournament finals late last year, defending BVI Cricket Association T20 champions Cavaliers, returned to familiar territory. After RTW Falcons batsmen raced to 84 for 1, Dhanpaul Chrisnanand’s four wicket haul triggered their collapse as Cavaliers bowlers ripped through their order taking 6 for 22, during a 57-run victory, in Sunday’s T20 opener in Greenland.

Cavaliers Captain Avishkar Sewkerran went lbw for a duck, then Aaron Baker and Gavin Hitnarine put on a 120 run third wicket partnership and they went on to make 211 for 6 in their 20 overs. Baker had a knock of 65 with a supporting 57 from Hitnarine.

RTW Falcons bowlers Roy Caines and Imran Smith, had 2 for 31 and 2 for 29 respectively.

RTW Falcons openers Damron Prince and Joel Williams had put them ahead of Cavaliers before Chrisnanand caught Prince for 42 off a Paul Sohadow delivery. Williams departed soon after, when he was bowled by Freddie Coe for 46. Chrisnanand then went to work, bagging 4 for 33 including two ducks, after new comer Gary Prince went for a paltry 17, ending their innings at 154 all out. Sewkarran snatched 2 for 53.

“It’s not a good feeling,” RTW Falcons Captain Orlando “Facebook” Olliverre said of the loss. “We had the game but slipped up a little in the field. Our openers gave us a good start but the latter part of the batting fell short.”

Cavaliers Jagnarine “Suga” Persaud who contributed 25 runs said it was an all round game for his team and everyone chipped in. “We didn’t have the best start but the two guys put together a partnership and we took it from there,” he said.

In the other game, Man of the Match Casnell Morris hit the first century of the league in leading Police to a thrilling 13-run victory over the Vikings. Morris had 10 boundaries and eight sixes in his 105, in leading Police to 185 for 4. Captain Collis Fraser narrowly missed a half century with his 49. Vikings Deco Khemraj grabbed 2 for 28.

In reply, the Vikings were 172 for 8. Rahkumar Seepersaud had 34 for the Vikings and Khemraj, 31. Fraser and Jerome Morris, were Police top bowlers, with 2 for 24 and 2 for 41, respectively.
